Philip A. Gilly, MD, FASAM is an Addictionologist in Southeast Michigan.
He received his undergraduate degree from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine in New York City and completed Family Practice residency at the University of Texas SW Medical School in Dallas, TX.
Dr. Gilly has been Board Certified in Family Medicine continuously since 1985 and in Addiction Medicine since 2010 by the ABAM and since 2019 by the ABPM. He has earned titles of Fellow with both the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Society of Addiction Medicine.
He practiced office-based primary care for over 20 years before transitioning in 2007 to addiction medicine full-time.
Dr. Gilly joined the prestigious Maplegrove Center in West Bloomfield, Michigan, a free-standing substance abuse treatment facility of the Henry Ford Health System in 2011. He was responsible for developing the treatment protocols for both the inpatient and outpatient services. He was responsible for developing and presenting the annual 12-lecture series introducing addiction medicine to the Psychiatry residents at Henry Ford Hospital.
Since 2018 he has been in private practice of Addiction Medicine.
He has twice been chosen by fellow physicians as one of the ten Top Docs in Addiction Medicine in the Detroit/Southeast Michigan area in 2017 and 2019.
Dr. Gilly is passionate about teaching the medical model of substance use disorders and the bio-psycho-social approach to treatment to both patients and colleagues.
